Since the book is an outcome of a thorough understanding of the language needs of contemporary students and the expectations of the industry,

The book is divided into ten units, each focused on a specific theme likely to be of interest to both students and teachers. The texts in each unit have been drawn from both general literature as well as materials in science and technology, based on the needs analysis conducted by the Department. The book incorporates a skills approach to teaching and the problem-solving tasks have been graded keeping in mind mixed classrooms and their specific needs. Therefore, apart from the equal weightage given to the language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) sufficient emphasis has also been laid on the practice of grammar. The book is accompanied by a DVD that contains a range of audiovisual material for classroom use.
